There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Echague (14-17) defeated higher ranked Independiente (17-15) in Santiago del Estero 86-78 on Saturday. Echague looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Joaquin Fernandez (189-2003) nailed 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and Facundo Carulla (193-1993) accounted for 9 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Lucio Castellani (196-1994) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Emiliano Correa (188-1991) added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Independiente in the defeat. Four Independiente players scored in double figures. Echague moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Villa Mitre. Independiente lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Lanus. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
