There was no surprise when 9th ranked Castro (9-8) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Espanol O. (11-9) 83-74 on Sunday. It was a great shooting night for Espanol O. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Argentinian point guard Nicolas Zurschmitten (183-1995) scored 25 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Anthony Lee (206-1991, college: Ohio St., agency: BIG) chipped in 10 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Espanol O.'s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Ecuadorian center Bryan Carabali (212-1999) with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks and Gabriel Diaz (-1999) scored 12 points and 7 assists. Four Espanol O. and five Castro players scored in double figures. Espanol O. have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Castro dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Quilicura. Espanol O. will meet at home Catolica (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Castro will play against Quilicura (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
