Regular Season Round 8: Dragons - Panteras 86-77
Date: March 27, 2023
Very significant was Dragons' (#3, 4-4) victory against 4th ranked Panteras (2-6) 86-77. Dragons players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Panteras' players. The winners were led by American point guard Kristina Puthoff-King (180-1992, college: Richmond) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import point guard Taylor Brown (170-1993, college: GMU) supported her with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Puthoff-King is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Dragons' coach Guillermo Reyes allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds by forward Anayelis Garcia (180-2002) did not help to save the game for Panteras. Guard Samantha Calderon added 14 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Five Dragons and four Panteras players scored in double figures. Dragons (4-4) moved-up to second place. Panteras at the other side stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Dragons will play against Leona (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Panteras will play against the league's leader Santiago and hope to get back on the winning track.
