Regular Season Round 8: Santiago - Leona 76-75

Second-ranked Leona (3-4) gave a tough game to first ranked Santiago (7-2) on Monday. Santiago managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tyasia Willis (178-1997, college: Bethel, TN) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and forward Dariana Santos (180-1991, college: Wiley) who added 23 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Willis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Santiago's coach Carlinson Torres used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Kiana Glenn (168-1997, college: Life) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and Odalmis Diaz scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Four Leona players scored in double figures. Santiago have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-2 record. Leona at the other side dropped to the third place with four games lost. Santiago are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Panteras (#4) in the next round. Leona will play against the league's second-placed Dragons and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
