An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Quebradillas. Top-ranked Piratas faced 4th ranked Leones. Host Piratas (3-0) defeated guests from Juana Diaz (1-2) 99-89. Piratas made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Piratas made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Hassan Whiteside (213-1989, college: Marshall) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds and the other American import guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) who added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. At the losing side the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists and American forward Eric Paschall (198-1996, college: Villanova) scored 25 points. Five Leones players scored in double figures. Leones' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Piratas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 3-0 record, which they share with San German. Loser Leones keep the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Arecibo and Guaynabo. Piratas will meet Osos (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Leones will play against the league's leader Vaqueros and hope to win that game.
