There was a minor upset when 14th ranked Brasilia (7-21) lost at home to sixteenth ranked Rio Claro (7-23) 92-74 on Thursday. American point guard Kenny Dawkins (177-1987, college: Lamar) notched a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 assists to lead the effort and Rafa Oliveira (199-1993) supported him with 18 points and 13 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Four Rio Claro players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 8 assists by guard Gemadinha Sacco (183-1997) did not help to save the game for Brasilia. Victor Leal (203-1996) added 9 points and 11 rebounds. Brasilia's coach Dede Barbosa rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Rio Claro maintains sixteenth position with 7-23 record. Brasilia lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth place with 21 games lost. Rio Claro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Brasilia will play against Pato (#14) in Pato Branco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
