The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Brillantes (4-2) in Margarita on Thursday night. Visitors were edged by fifth ranked Centauros (3-3) 85-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Brillantes. 27 personal fouls committed by Brillantes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. French center Alioune Tew (204-1992, college: Niagara, agency: Helping Ballers) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Elder Gimenez (186-1991) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Four Centauros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard James Reese V (193-1998, college: S.Carolina) with 24 points and the former international center Miguel Marriaga (205-1984) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Centauros moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Heroes. Brillantes at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Centauros is looking forward to face league's second-placed Guaros in Barquisimeto in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Brillantes' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Caracas Heroes.
