Another exciting game was played in Usultan between eighth ranked Santiagueno and higher ranked Metapan where host Santiagueno (3-5) won against Metapan (4-4) 81-72. Santiagueno made 26-of-32 charity shots (81.3 percent) during the game, while Metapan only scored two points from the stripe. It was a good game for American-Colombian center Freddy Asprilla (206-1988, college: Canisius) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 24 rebounds. Fernando Salcedo (-2003) contributed with 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Santiagueno players scored in double figures. American point guard Leangelo Saravia (183, college: Oakland City) replied with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and Nicaraguan guard Deikel Sanchez (-1996) added 14 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Metapan. Metapan's coach Reynaldo Corrales rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Santiagueno moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Fantasmas. Metapan lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with four games lost. Santiagueno will play against Brujos (#9) in Izalco in the next round. Metapan will have a break next round.
