Regular Season Round 8: Manati - Humacao 96-91

There was a minor upset in Manati where their close opponent Grises (2-6) were defeated by sixth ranked Osos (2-6) 96-91 on Wednesday. Osos looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Davon Jefferson (203-1986, college: USC) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import guard Elfrid Payton (191-1994, college: Louisiana) who added 16 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists during the contest. Osos' coach Ivan Rios allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Dominican forward LJ Figueroa (198-1998, college: Oregon) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Luis Rivera (180-1998) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Four Osos and five Grises players scored in double figures. Osos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Humacao. Osos will meet league's leader Piratas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Grises will play against Leones (#5) in Juana Diaz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
