There was an upset in Humacao where second-ranked Gigantes (3-4) were rolled over by sixth ranked Grises (2-6) 97-76 on Thursday. Grises shot 66.7 percent from the field and made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Grises outrebounded Gigantes 39-24 including a 32-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-1994, college: Towson) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and American point guard Zavier Simpson (183-1997, college: Michigan) who added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Grises players scored in double figures. American Victor Rudd (206-1991, college: S.Florida) responded with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward JJ Rosario (206-1999, college: A&M-Commerce) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Grises moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Manati. Loser Gigantes keep the second position with four games lost. They share it with Ponce. Grises will meet Leones (#5) in the next round. Gigantes will play against Mets and hope to secure a win.
