There was no surprise in Sao Paulo where 13th ranked U.Corinthians (9-22) was crushed by sixth ranked Pinheiros (20-12) 94-70. Pinheiros dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to U.Corinthians' 18. They outrebounded U.Corinthians 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Canadian forward Richard Amardi (206-1990, college: Oregon, agency: BIG) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Matheus Eugeniusz (193-2000) contributed with 21 points and 4 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. American MikeL Simms (196-1997, college: VCU) replied with 27 points and point guard Augusto Leao (184-1998) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for U.Corinthians. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pinheiros moved-up to fifth place. U.Corinthians lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 22 games lost. Pinheiros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. U.Corinthians will play at home against Fortaleza (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
