Top ranked Vaqueros (7-2) recorded its second loss in Mayaguez on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Indios (5-4) 80-62. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Vaqueros. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. American point guard Tyreke Evans (198-1989, college: Memphis) fired 28 points for the winners. The other American import power forward Kaleb Wesson (208-1999, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center Ismael Romero (205-1991) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Javier Mojica (189-1984, college: CCSU) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Indios moved-up to second place, which they share with Ponce and Carolina. Defending champion Vaqueros still keep top position with two games lost. Indios is looking forward to face league's second-placed Atleticos in San German in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vaqueros will play at home against the league's leader Piratas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
