The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Piratas (8-1) in La Guaira on Monday night. Hosts were edged by second ranked Guaiqueries (6-5) 67-65. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Piratas. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Piratas 44-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Nigerian swingman Tanksley Efianayi (198-1994, college: UCF) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Tre McLean (197-1993, college: Chattanooga) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Dominican guard Juan Suero (196-1993) with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Dominican point guard Miguel Dicent (190-1994, college: Morehead St.) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Piratas' coach Melvyn Lopez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Guaiqueries maintains second position with 6-5 record behind leader Piratas, which they share with Panteras. Piratas at the other side still keep top place with one game lost.
