There was an upset in Juana Diaz where top-ranked Piratas (8-2) were defeated by fifth ranked Leones (5-4) 94-87 on Tuesday. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Leones made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. American forward Cameron Oliver (203-1996, college: Nevada) scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side American center Hassan Whiteside (213-1989, college: Marshall) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) scored 27 points and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Four Leones and five Piratas players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Leones have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Carolina and Mayaguez. Loser Piratas still keep top position with two games lost. Leones will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Piratas will play against the league's leader Vaqueros in Bayamon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
