The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Araraquara's (2-3) road victory over bottom-ranked Vitoria (0-6) 110-68 on Friday. Araraquara made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Araraquara outrebounded Vitoria 38-22 including a 25-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Nestor Neto (183-1996) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 4 assists and power forward Abner Moreira (206-1989, college: Idaho St.) who added 10 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Gabriel Vargas (195-1998) responded with 17 points and guard Victor Pedreira (191-1996) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Five Araraquara and four Vitoria players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Araraquara maintains fourth position with 2-3 record. Loser Vitoria still closes the standings with six games lost. Araraquara will meet at home higher ranked Osasco (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Vitoria will play against the league's leader Brusque and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
