Regular Season Round 7: Western Ballaz - Defenders 77-81

An interesting game was played in San Ignacio where Defenders (#4) beat host Western Ballaz (#5) 81-77 on Friday evening. It was a great evening for American swingman Nigel Jones (201-1990, college: Talladega) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Treandus Branch helped adding 21 points and 9 rebounds. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Defenders players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Mark Gordon (196, college: Keiser) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import power forward Richard Smith III (206-1992, college: California, PA) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 18 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 5-4 record. Loser Western Ballaz dropped to the sixth position with five games lost.
