Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 32. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 62-21 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Five Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. Coach Ernesto Rodriguez's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) did not help to save the game for Chalchuapa. Ryann Mercado added 21 points for the guests. Santa Tecla have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with San Salvador. Chalchuapa lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. Santa Tecla will meet Metapan (#4) on the road in the next round. Chalchuapa will play against the league's leader San Salvador (#1) and hope to win that game.
