The game in San Ignacio was also quite interesting. Third ranked Hurricanes (7-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Western Ballaz (4-6). Hurricanes defeated Western Ballaz 82-68 on Saturday. Hurricanes dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Western Ballaz's 42. They outrebounded Western Ballaz 71-43 including a 26-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American point guard Kris Frazier (201, college: Peru St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds and the former international Kirk Smith (-2000) supported him with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Four Hurricanes players scored in double figures. Even 26 points and 9 rebounds by American swingman Mark Gordon (196, college: Keiser) did not help to save the game for Western Ballaz. His fellow American import power forward Richard Smith III (206-1992, college: California, PA) added 10 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks for the hosts. Western Ballaz's coach rotated eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hurricanes have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Western Ballaz keeps the sixth place with six games lost. Hurricanes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Belize City to the arena Defenders.
