Regular Season Round 21: Marinos - Diablos 85-87

There was a small surprise in Puerto La Cruz where tenth ranked Diablos (3-11) edged 8th ranked Marinos (3-12) 87-85 on Monday. Diablos dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Marinos' 24. Dominican point guard Raimer Santana (183-1997) stepped up and scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Edry Gonzalez (185-1998) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Dominican Yeison Colome (190-1996) with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Nigerian-American guard George A Williams II (198-1990, college: WBU) scored 18 points. Five Diablos and four Marinos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Diablos moved-up to eighth place. Marinos lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Diablos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Gladiadores.
