Rather expected game in Carolina where 6th ranked Grises (5-11) were defeated by third ranked Gigantes (8-6) 89-79 on Tuesday. Gigantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gigantes made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American Earl Clark (208-1988, college: Louisville) who scored 29 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks. International point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU) chipped in 16 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Thomas Robinson (208-1991, college: Kansas) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and Dominican forward LJ Figueroa (198-1998, college: Oregon) added 21 points respectively. Four Grises players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes moved-up to second place, which they share with Arecibo. Loser Grises keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. Gigantes will meet league's leader Piratas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Grises will play against Indios (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
