Regular Season Round 22: Chalchuapa - Fantasmas 61-104

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Chalchuapa (1-16) was crushed at home by seventh ranked Fantasmas (6-9) 104-61 on Wednesday. Fantasmas dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 42. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 53-28 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Fantasmas looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Chalchuapa's players. The game was dominated by American players. Nick Moore (198-1991, college: Alliance) had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Juwuan Carter (193-1996, college: Georgian Court) chipped in 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds during the contest. Carter is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Fantasmas players scored in double figures. Fantasmas' coach Julio Villalta felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) responded with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Robert Story (183, college: WSSU) scored 14 points. Fantasmas maintains seventh position with 6-9 record. Chalchuapa lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. Fantasmas will meet at home higher ranked Quezaltepeque (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chalchuapa will play against Santiagueno (#9) in Usultan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
