No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Venados (13-13) defeated on the road 7th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (9-17) 97-83 on Friday. Venados looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was also dominated by American players. Power forward Alex Kaye Williams (203-1993) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners and center Vincent Boumann (206-1996, college: WOU) chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds. Four Venados players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Kwame Alexander (201-1990, college: CSUSB, agency: BIG) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and guard Kennedy Jones (188-1989, college: Arlington Baptist) scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Venados. They maintain fourth place with 13-13 record, which they share with Tijuana. Pioneros Los Mochis lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 17 games lost. Venados will meet at home Ostioneros de Guaymas (#6) in the next round. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against Caballeros de Culiacan and hope to secure a win.
