An interesting game for Gigantes (10-6) which hosted in Carolina one of their biggest challengers Cangrejeros (8-9). Second ranked Gigantes had an easy win 101-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cangrejeros. They outrebounded Cangrejeros 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Gigantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Cangrejeros' players. American Victor Rudd (206-1991, college: S.Florida) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Ismael Cruz (190-2001, college: Indian Hills) contributed with 22 points for the winners. The former international forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) replied with 22 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard David Stockton (180-1991, college: Gonzaga) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Cangrejeros. Four Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-6 record having just one point less than leader Quebradillas, which they share with San German and Arecibo. Cangrejeros at the other side keep the third place with nine games lost. Gigantes is looking forward to face Cariduros (#4) in Fajardo in the next round. Cangrejeros will play at home against the league's leader Vaqueros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
