Important game to mention about took place in Ciudad Obregon. Eighth ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (9-19) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Astros (15-13) 122-121 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon shot the lights out from three nailing 19 long-distance shots on high 59.4 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American players dominated the game. Guard Jaylen Bland (193-1993, college: UC Riverside) scored 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Justin Everett (206-1996, college: Humboldt St.) chipped in 22 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Halcones de Ciudad Obregon players scored in double figures. Forward Jordan Loveridge (198-1993, college: Utah) responded with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and forward Isaiah Whaley (203-1998, college: UConn) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon maintains eighth position with 9-19 record. Astros lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the second place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Mazatlan and Culiacan. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against higher ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Astros will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas (#6) and hope to get back on the winning track.
