Regular Season Round 25: Piratas - Gladiadores 86-94

An interesting game for Gladiadores (17-2) which played road game in La Guaira against 3rd placed Piratas (10-5). First ranked Gladiadores managed to get a 8-point victory 94-86. Strangely Piratas outrebounded Gladiadores 43-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Piratas' players. American Jordan Adams (196-1994, college: UCLA) stepped up and scored 31 points and 7 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners and international point guard Gregory Vargas (181-1986, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 15 points and 12 assists. At the losing side Dominican Rigoberto Mendoza (190-1992) responded with 28 points and 7 rebounds and Dominican guard Juan Suero (196-1993) scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Gladiadores and four Piratas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gladiadores have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-2 record. Piratas at the other side keep the third position with five games lost. Gladiadores' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Diablos.
