The game between closely ranked teams ended with Lagomar's (1-2) home victory over Juventud (0-4) in Montevideo 83-59 on Wednesday. Lagomar dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Juventud's 30. Lagomar forced 27 Juventud turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Paraguayan forward Natalia Quevedo (170-1998) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds, 12 assists and 5 steals. Argentinian guard Melina Marcial (168-1998) accounted for 20 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Four Lagomar players scored in double figures. Forward Karina Acosta (-1986) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and center Florencia Spinelli (186-1994) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Juventud in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lagomar's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena D.Sporting.
