Regular Season Round 27: Cangrejeros - Guaiqueries 74-77

No shocking result in a game in Maturin where fifth ranked Guaiqueries (11-8) edged 10th ranked Cangrejeros (3-15) 77-74 on Thursday. It was a great evening for American-Nigerian swingman Tanksley Efianayi (198-1994, college: UCF) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 5 rebounds. Evert Bernal (195-1996) helped adding 13 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Dominican forward Rich Polanco (203-1997, college: S.Dakota) with 16 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Duke Mondy (193-1990, college: Oakland, agency: BIG) scored 17 points. Four Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Guaiqueries. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Spartans. Cangrejeros lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Guaiqueries will meet at home Panteras (#6) in the next round. Cangrejeros will play against Gigantes (#7) in Puerto Ordaz and hope to secure a win.
