Regular Season Round 1: Libertadoras - Correcaminos 99-64

Very expected game in Queretaro where Correcaminos were rolled over by Libertadores 99-64 on Friday. Libertadores dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Correcaminos' 26 and made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Correcaminos 44-22 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Libertadores looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Correcaminos' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Libertadores made 8 blocks. Australian guard Madeleine Garrick (180-1992) stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!) for the winners and American forward Marie Benson (185-1997, college: UT Arlington) chipped in 12 points and 15 rebounds. Five Libertadores players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Brittany Byrd (176-1997, college: UIC) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Jade Vega (165-1997, college: CS Fullerton) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Libertadores will meet Astros in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Correcaminos will play against Adelitas and hope to win that game.
