Regular Season Round 1: Rojas - Halcones 65-75

Rojas recorded a loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Halcones 75-65. They made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Rojas outrebounded Halcones 43-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Nigerian forward Amy Okonkwo (188-1996, college: TCU) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws). American-Puerto Rican guard Brianna Jones (177-1997, college: Georgetown) contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Stasha Carey (188-1995, college: Rutgers) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and Bosnian-American center Lynetta Kizer (193-1990, college: Maryland) added 13 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Rojas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Halcones will play against Fuerza Regia in Monterrey in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rojas will play on the road against Plateras in Fresnillo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
