Second Stage Round 8: Racers - Mexcaltecas 83-80

The most exciting game of round 8 in the LMBPF took place in Saltillo. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Mexcaltecas (0-6) to second ranked Racers (3-2) 83-80 in the game for the second place. Racers dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Mexcaltecas' 22. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Jhoana Moran (157-1993, agency: ROCKIN SPORTS) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 4 assists and American forward Brittney Smith (190-1999, college: Georgia) who added 14 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Racers' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Canadian guard Arianna Macias (175, college: St.Mary's) responded with 34 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Jaqueline Castrejon (175) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Racers maintains second position with 3-2 record having just eight point less than leader Teporacas. Mexcaltecas at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Racers are looking forward to face league's leader Mieleras in Guanajuato in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mexcaltecas will have a break next round.
