The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Piratas (13-5) in Guaynabo on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by fourth ranked Mets (10-10) 87-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Piratas. They outrebounded Piratas 42-30 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mets looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mets made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward DeMarcus Cousins (211-1990, college: Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international point guard Gary Browne (185-1993, college: WVU) who added 19 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) with 19 points and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the former international guard Tyquan Rolon (192-1995, college: LeMoyne) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Mets and five Piratas players scored in double figures. Piratas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mets maintains fourth position with 10-10 record. Piratas at the other side still keep top place with five games lost. Mets are looking forward to face Cariduros (#5) in Fajardo in the next round. Piratas will play at home against Leones (#5) and are hoping to win this game.
