There was no surprise in Barquisimeto where 7th ranked Gaiteros (9-13) were defeated by first ranked Guaros (17-5) 97-80 on Tuesday. Guaros made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jermaine Love (190-1989, college: UIS) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 7 rebounds and Spanish-Colombian power forward Juan Tello-Palacios (206-1985) who added 12 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Matthew Butler (188-1995, college: UT Martin) responded with 22 points and 4 assists and the former international swingman Jose Materan (196-1996) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Guaros and five Gaiteros players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Guaros have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-5 record. Gaiteros lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 13 games lost. Guaros will meet at home Heroes (#5) in the next round. Gaiteros will have a break next round.
