Regular Season Round 25: Quebradillas - Ponce 87-83

There was no surprise in Quebradillas where 5th ranked Leones (7-14) were defeated by first ranked Piratas (14-5) 87-83 on Tuesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. American guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) stepped up and scored 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international forward Carlos Emory (196-1991) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. Piratas' coach Rafael Cruz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) responded with 27 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Jamil Wilson (201-1990, college: Marquette) scored 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Piratas and four Leones players scored in double figures. Piratas maintains first place with 14-5 record. Leones lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 14 games lost. Piratas will meet at home Osos (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Leones will play against the league's second-placed Atleticos in San German and hope to secure a win.
