Regular Season Round 1: Marineros - Metros 84-96

Another exciting game was played in Puerto Plata between Metros and Marineros where Metros beat Marineros on the road 96-84. Metros forced 23 Marineros turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Trevon Duval (190-1998, college: Duke) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward Emmitt Williams (198-1998, college: LSU) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Metros players scored in double figures. Forward Shamil Ballas (198-1994) answered with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Bernardo Polanco (189-1994) added 16 points in the effort for Marineros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Metros will play against Soles in Santo Domingo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Marineros will play on the road against Titanes in San Cristobal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
