There was a small surprise in Oruro where eighth ranked Carl A-Z (4-5) defeated 6th ranked Univ.Sucre (4-5) 91-78 on Saturday. Carl A-Z dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Univ.Sucre's 26. Carl A-Z forced 20 Univ.Sucre turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Univ.Sucre's players. Argentinian center Diego Romero (206-1982, college: FSU) fired a double-double by scoring 32 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. Samuel Valverde (-1999) chipped in 25 points and 6 assists. Carl A-Z's coach Marcelo Mendieta used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American guard Haylen Washington (196-1994, college: Co.Georgia) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and Juan Calvo (186-1999) added 21 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side.
