Regular Season Round 2: Correcaminos - Adelitas 72-101

Not a big story in a game when Correcaminos were outplayed at home by Adelitas 101-72 on Saturday. Adelitas dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Correcaminos' 36. They outrebounded Correcaminos 36-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. Guard Tanaya Atkinson (183-1996, college: Temple) scored 26 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Channon Fluker (193-1997, college: CSUN) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Guard Brittany Byrd (176-1997, college: UIC) responded with 27 points and 5 rebounds and forward Sarah Mgbeike (185, college: OLLU) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Adelitas will meet at home Astros in the next round where they are favorite. Correcaminos will play against Abejas in Leon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
