Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Quezaltepeque's 30. They outrebounded Quezaltepeque 47-27 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santa Tecla looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Dominican forward Adonis Lopez (-1997) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). American forward Ron Lawton (196-1995, college: NMHU) produced 37 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and the other American import center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side.
