Regular Season Round 31: Brillantes - Centauros 92-66
Date: May 14, 2023
Rather expected game in Caracas where 6th ranked Centauros (10-14) were crushed by fourth ranked Brillantes (15-7) 92-66 on Sunday. Brillantes made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Brillantes outrebounded Centauros 45-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. American forward Glen Rice Jr (198-1991, college: Georgia Tech) fired 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. His fellow American import power forward Charles Thomas (202-1986, college: Arkansas) chipped in 19 points. Five Brillantes players scored in double figures. The former international forward Elder Gimenez (186-1991) produced 14 points and the former international center Miguel Bolivar (205-1992) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Brillantes. They maintain fourth place with 15-7 record. Centauros lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Brillantes will meet at home league's second-placed Guaros in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Centauros will play against Heroes (#5) in Caracas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
