No shocking result in a game in Arecibo where third ranked Capitanes (14-12) defeated 5th ranked Osos (9-18) 96-87 on Tuesday. It was a great evening for naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 4 assists. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (202-1989, college: Texas St., agency: 011 Sports) helped adding 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side the former international Christopher Ortiz (203-1993, college: Kent St.) responded with 38 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and American forward Davon Jefferson (203-1986, college: USC) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Capitanes maintains third place with 14-12 record having just one point less than leader Quebradillas, which they share with Guaynabo. Loser Osos keep the fifth position with 18 games lost. Capitanes will meet Gigantes (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Osos will play against Cariduros in Fajardo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
