Regular Season Round 9: Piratas - Motilones 92-63

Not a big story in a game when 4th placed Motilones (1-7) were outscored by first ranked Piratas (8-2) in Bogota 92-63 on Wednesday. Piratas dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Motilones' 24 and made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Motilones 48-31 including 35 on the defensive glass. American power forward Jalen Dupree (205-1998, college: Tennessee St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import Desmond Holloway (194-1990, college: Coastal, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 23 points and 9 rebounds. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Argentinian point guard Joaquin Valinotti (185-1998) came up with 9 points and 12 rebounds and Argentinian-Italian guard Mateo Diaz (186-2002) added 17 points (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) respectively for Motilones in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Piratas maintains first place with 8-2 record, which they share with Titanes. Motilones lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with seven games lost. Piratas will again meet at home Motilones (#4) in the next round. Motilones will have a break next round.
