Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Cojute's 42. They outrebounded Cojute 62-41 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 26 rebounds. Dominican forward Adonis Lopez (-1997) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Four Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. Santa Tecla's coach Ernesto Rodriguez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997, agency: The French Family Consulting) produced 23 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and his fellow American import swingman Shian Bradshaw (194-1995, college: Wake Tech CC) added 22 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts.
