Regular Season Round 7: Colo Colo - Municipal C. 85-58

Rather expected game when 4th placed Municipal C. (2-4) was smashed by second ranked Colo Colo (4-1) in Santiago 85-58 on Saturday. Colo Colo dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Municipal C.'s 22. Colo Colo forced 20 Municipal C. turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Martin Gomez who led the winners and scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Eduardo Sepulveda (186-1986) accounted for 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Center Matias Villagran (199-1988) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and center Marko Castro (192-1988) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Municipal C. in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Colo Colo have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 4-1 record behind leader Liceo PN. Loser Municipal C. dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Aleman and Brisas. Colo Colo will meet at home Tomas L. (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Municipal C. will play against Aleman in Puerto Varas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
