Regular Season Round 8: Laja - Univ.Concepcion 33-98

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Concepcion: Univ.Concepcion (#1) and Laja (#7). Laja was smashed at home by 65 points 33-98 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Univ.Concepcion held Laja to an opponent 21.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Univ.Concepcion forced 27 Laja turnovers and outrebounded them 66-37 including a 26-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Laja's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Daniela Ojeda who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 assists and Constanza Ruminot who added 8 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Stefani Sandoval responded with 4 points and 15 rebounds and V Quilodran scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Univ.Concepcion (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row, which they share with Alemana P. Laja at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Larr Valdivia and Luis ML. Univ.Concepcion will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Laja will play at home against Temuco (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
