Regular Season Round 33: Santurce - Humacao 86-116
Date: May 28, 2023
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Grises (12-17) rolled over 4th placed Cangrejeros (15-14) in Santurce 116-86 on Sunday. Grises forced 21 Cangrejeros turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Cangrejeros' players. American point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) nailed 20 points, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and his fellow American import swingman James Ennis (201-1990, college: LBSU) accounted for 22 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) came up with 16 points and American point guard David Stockton (180-1991, college: Gonzaga) added 15 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively for Cangrejeros in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Grises moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Mayaguez. Loser Cangrejeros keep the fourth position with 14 games lost. Grises will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cangrejeros will play again against Grises (#5) in Humacao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
