Regular Season Round 5: Panteras - Rojas 83-71

LNBPF top team - Panteras (10-0) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat fifth ranked Rojas (5-3) in Aguascalientes 83-71. Panteras looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The former international guard Angela Rodriguez (173-1991, college: Milwaukee) nailed 22 points and 5 assists for the winning side and Latvian center Kristine Vitola (196-1991, college: UTEP) accounted for 20 points and 4 assists. American forward Akilah Bethel (183-1993, college: LSU) came up with 17 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Angela Tompkins (188-1991, college: Wichita St.) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Rojas in the defeat. Four Rojas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Panteras have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-0 record. Loser Rojas keep the fifth position with three games lost. Panteras will meet Fuerza Regia (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rojas will play against the league's second-placed Libertadores and hope to secure a win.
