Regular Season Round 5: Panteras - Rojas 84-66

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Rojas (5-3) lost to leader Panteras (10-0) in Aguascalientes 66-84 on Monday. Panteras made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 27 Rojas turnovers and outrebounded them 31-20 including 21 on the defensive glass. Panteras looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Latvian center Kristine Vitola (196-1991, college: UTEP) nailed 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American forward Samantha Fuehring (191, college: Louisville) accounted for 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. American forward Angela Tompkins (188-1991, college: Wichita St.) came up with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Stasha Carey (188-1995, college: Rutgers, agency: Shark Sports Management) added 15 points respectively for Rojas in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Panteras. They maintain first place with 10-0 record. Loser Rojas keep the fifth position with three games lost. Panteras will meet Fuerza Regia (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rojas will play against the league's second-placed Libertadores and hope to secure a win.
