Regular Season Round 5: Libertadoras - Plateras 86-81

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Libertadores (8-2) defeated 7th ranked Plateras (2-6) in Queretaro 86-81 on Monday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Libertadores made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. American players dominated also this game. Power forward Lyndra Weaver (185-1987, college: Virginia) nailed 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and power forward Stephanie Kostowicz (188-1995, college: Milwaukee) accounted for 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Kamilah Jackson (183-1992, college: Hawaii) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Jazmine Jones (183-1996, college: Louisville) added 19 points respectively for Plateras in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Plateras' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Libertadores. They moved-up to second place. Plateras lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Abejas. Libertadores will meet Rojas (#5) in the next round. Plateras will play against Adelitas and hope to secure a win.
