There was no surprise in Asuncion where 7th ranked Atletico C. (2-12) was crushed by second ranked Olimpia K. (11-3) 146-59 on Monday. Olimpia K. dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Atletico C.'s 30. Olimpia K. forced 29 Atletico C. turnovers and outrebounded them 43-22 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olimpia K. shot the lights out from three sinking 25 long-distance shots on high 54.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 43 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Atletico C.'s players. American guard Christian Alaekwe (193, college: St.Thomas, TX) scored 56 points (!!!) and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Fabrizio Diaz chipped in 7 points, 9 rebounds and 14 assists during the contest. Four Olimpia K. players scored in double figures. Olimpia K.'s coach Carlos Romano felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Daniel Jara responded with 7 points and 7 rebounds and Oscar Toro scored 5 points and 7 assists. Olimpia K. maintains second position with 11-3 record having just three points less than leader San Jose. Atletico C. lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 12 games lost.
