No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Astros (7-3) crushed on the road 10th ranked Correcaminos (1-7) 98-51 on Tuesday. Astros dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Correcaminos' 26. They outrebounded Correcaminos 43-25 including a 33-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Astros shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 72.2 percentage. American players dominated also this game. Forward Chelsea Nelson (188-1996, college: NC State) nailed 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and forward Joy Adams (180-1993, college: Iona) accounted for 15 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five Astros players scored in double figures. Guard Brittany Byrd (176-1997, college: UIC) came up with 17 points and 4 steals and forward Dasia Evans (188, college: Wright St.) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Correcaminos in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Astros. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Adelitas. Loser Correcaminos keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Astros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Correcaminos will play against Freseras (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
