Very important is a home loss of second ranked Atleticos (18-9) against sixth ranked Leones (9-19) on Wednesday night. Host Atleticos were defeated by Leones in a tough game in San German 83-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Atleticos. It was a great evening for international forward Aleem Ford (203-1996, college: Wisconsin) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 22 points and 4 assists. Five Leones players scored in double figures. American forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (201-1995, college: Arizona) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Nate Mason (188-1995, college: Minnesota) scored 22 points and 4 assists. Atleticos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Leones maintains sixth place with 9-19 record. Loser Atleticos keep the second position with nine games lost. Leones will meet at home higher ranked Indios (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Atleticos will play against the league's leader Piratas in Quebradillas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
